While the new three-level pricing on iTunes is marginally interesting, of much greater importance is that iTunes is terminating DRM.
You can upgrade all the songs in your library purchased from them to DRM-free versions à la iTunes Plus.1 About time, too. DRM is for teh shiteheads.

1. At 94 items to upgrade (singles and albums), my total conversion cost is about $140. Yikes!

Yet more proof that iTunes is for suckers… they get you with the DRM and then with anti-DRM!

Ha! Yeah; the “upgrade” does include a better sample rate, but it’s also $3 per album or 10% of the price, whichever is, of course, more. (30 cents per song.)
The upgraded sample rate is still not the full-out 256K offered by Amazon, though.
